OUR BIRTH STORY

It was a crazy idea when it happened, but it made perfect sense.  The two things she was most passionate about turned into a career.  With a military medical background combined with her civilian experiences of massage therapy, emergent nursing, childhood education topped off by birthing and breastfeeding 4 of her own children, why not?! This life is too short to not dream big.

Our Birth Story

Why couldn’t she show women (and men) how powerful they were and at the same time teach others them to trust in their bodies. That their bodies would do what was asked, if they were well prepared.  That pregnancy isn’t a handicap and a strong host will yield a better outcome.  Why couldn’t she reach the globe with her heart, compassion and message of strength?  With the support of all who love her and lots courage of her own, she decided SHE CAN and she’s done it.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
Helena Embry

“Heather encouraged me for a successful natural birth with her mantra “let her do her job”, and her complete belief in me and my body. She was the glue that helped hold me together postpartum, answering every breastfeeding question, emotional and hormonal up and downs, and being available at all times especially during those first few 2, 3, 4, and 5am feedings. Heather is the best resource and friend anyone could ask for, and she will definitely be our doula for all the babies to come.”

“Heather was a major support person for me after the birth of my baby in November. Even a week out from delivery I was still a bit shell shocked that I had left the hospital with a little person I was responsible for. Breastfeeding, in the beginning, was a bit of a struggle, and I worried myself sick about supply and latch concerns. Heather was there for me every step of the way. I was tired, frustrated, and anxious and the first person I thought of who I could reach out to was Heather. She educated me extensively on all my concerns, and then some, and was able to not only calm my fears, but arm me with a wealth of knowledge. She shared with me personal stories, videos, links to articles, you name it! She lives and breaths labor, delivery, and postpartum care! Once we conquered our breastfeeding woes Heather would check in on me from time to time. I never asked her to, but she always did. It would be a random day of the week, at a random time, and heather would just shoot me a message. She would say, “just doing a mental health check up”. It was so reassuring to know that Heather was always just a phone call away, she was always thinking of and supporting me and I knew without a doubt that she was/is ready to jump in with both feet in any time of need..”

“As a first time father, I wasn’t really sure what to do or say when the breastfeeding wasn’t turning out as my significant other had expected. It was very painful for her at first and frustrating for both her and the baby. I wanted to help and show my support, but I didn’t know what to say or do. That’s when Heather just happened to reach out to me to see how things were going and to see if she could help in any way. She was the perfect person in the right place and time when I needed her. She knew exactly what to say and was very knowledgeable and supportive. Living in Sweden, we have excellent healthcare and the combination of that with Heather’s knowledge and support helped get everything back on track”
